FAQs
Even the most successful people have mentors who contribute to their growth. The goal of the Olami mentorship community is to connect our mentees with someone who has walked the path before them and can offer guidance and support as they navigate their own growth journey.
Olami Mentorship focuses on the full 360 degrees of life, so no topic is off limits. We encourage mentees to discuss work, relationships, family, Jewish identity, and more.
We have curated content for your initial 10 weekly sessions to help you and your mentee really get to know each other. It’s deep, it’s meaningful, it’s thought provoking and insightful. Together with your mentee, you can focus on personal identity, setting goals for the future, and considering the values that guide your choices along your journey.
You can meet in person or online – whatever works for you – for 30 minutes once a week. Our mentorship program includes an initial 10 weeks of sessions complemented by local mentorship events. We hope the weekly sessions and events will set the foundation for a more long-term, meaningful relationship with your mentee. Feel free to meet your mentee for coffee, invite them for shabbat, or welcome them into your life in whichever way you feel comfortable.
Your typical Jewish life can inspire mentees, even if you’re not a teacher or educator. Our mentors are professionals from across multiple industries with real life experience that offer meaningful conversation, authentic connection and personal growth.
Your responses to our form will help us identify a well-suited match. Our Mentorship team carefully reviews all mentee applications and will match you based on the alignment of many categories. We look at your personal and professional interests as well as what each mentee is looking to gain from mentorship.
Mentors are evaluated based on industry, upbringing, Jewish affiliation, hobbies and interests, location, life-stage, personality and shared life experiences.
We know that taking this on can be a rewarding challenge, but a challenge, nonetheless.
That’s why our team is here for you every step of the way. We have a dedicated educator who is leading this initiative with a combined 50+ years of educational experience: Rabbi Shlomo Landau, Director of Community Mentorship is here to support you throughout the journey – from onboarding to selecting educational resources, and to navigating complex situations. He can be reached via phone or WhatsApp.
If you got this far and still have questions that we didn’t address, then we’d love to chat with you. You can email Rabbi Shlomo Landau at slandau@olami.org.
