Ben Shimoni was killed trying to save a group of people from the Supernova music festival near Kibbutz Re’im on October 7.
Ben attended the doomed event and initially made it to safety, fleeing from the unfolding Hamas massacre in his vehicle with four frantic strangers in the car. He dropped them off in Beersheba some 30 minutes away and, despite their distraught pleas to stay, he quickly headed back to the festival to save more people.
Shimoni made one more such trip, saving another group of five people and yet again heading back to rescue more, according to family, friends and witness accounts. He was killed on that third rescue attempt after his vehicle came under heavy gunfire from Hamas terrorists who set up a checkpoint on the road.
His family and friends say he was exactly the kind of person who would put himself in danger to save others. The story of his heroism that day is legendary among survivors of the Supernova massacre where at least 360 people were slaughtered, amid brutal atrocities.

Shortly after October 7th, Shani Bachar, a remarkable young woman, was ambushed as she was driving and murdered in cold blood.
Shani loved life and she loved people. She could not bear injustice which is what drove her to join law enforcement where she seamlessly blended her innate compassion for others and the importance of law and structure.
A number of years ago, Shani joined Nefesh Yehudi; Olami’s Israel program where she quickly became a beloved participant. Shani found deep value in the Torah driven ideas and life enhancing concepts that she learned at Nefesh Yehudi.
Shani’s brutal murder impacted the countless lives that she had impacted.

Nirel Zini was murdered alongside his fiancee-to-be Niv when Hamas terrorists stormed into Kfar Aza on October 7.
Nirel lived a life of joy, optimism and positivity. His contagious smile and ability to see others for who they could become endeared him to countless individuals. Nirel managed to somehow overcome every roadblock and obstacle in his way and rose from one success to the next.
Nirel was wounded as a soldier but bounced back to be twice as strong and able. As an officer he displayed a kindness and sensitivity that was unique and cherished.
Nirel was on the journey to become a lawyer, and he and Niv were planning to marry this summer.

Zur Saidi, 28, was murdered by Hamas while trying to flee the Supernova music festival on October 7.
Zur attended the rave with his two close childhood friends, Aviad Halevi and Omri Ram, who were also both slain that day. The three attempted to flee from the site of the rave when the rocket fire began, and were all shot dead by Hamas terrorists.
He was a graduate of the Hebrew University’s Faculty of Food and Environmental Agriculture and he wanted to follow in his father’s footsteps and become a farmer. At the party in Re’im, he was taking care of his friends who were wounded until the last minute. He could have fled, but he stayed to take care of them. Zur always helped people, took care of people, and had a unique sensitivity toward everyone.
