WEEK 2: tuning in

Play Video

Today we’re going to test out the law of resonance. Like we explained, the way you feel below awakens the parallel flow from above. Take a few moments and imagine that you are an instrument. Today is the big show and you have to make sure that you’re tuned up. When you are in tune you play the most beautiful melody called your life. Your positive vibration will awaken what you want more of in your life – namely, more things to feel positive about! How do you tune your instrument? Start with a gratitude practice. Write a list of 10 things you are grateful for. Start each sentence “Thank you for …” or “I am grateful for…” As you write down each one, think the words in your mind and feel into them. The easiest way to feel good is to recognize what you already have. Pay attention to your day as it unfolds with this exercise as your premise.

MONDAY, AUGUST 24 MINDFULNESS EXERCISE

Live your life like it’s rigged in your favor. Yes. That’s right. Today, before you do anything else, spend some time thinking about how you want your day to unfold. My suggestion for you is not to focus on what you want to happen but how you want to feel. See yourself feeling those feelings. Assume that you’re going to feel great today and keep an eye out for what happens as the day transpires. Regardless of what happens, try and keep coming back to the idea that life is rigged in your favor and even if it looks like something went wrong, use your mind to look for how this could be an opportunity for something better.

TUESDAY, AUGUST 25 MINDFULNESS EXERCISE

You get what you feel and you can’t fake feelings. That’s the beauty. Meet yourself where you are. Today’s practice is one of noticing. If you haven’t already, get a piece of paper, your computer, or phone and write down two columns. One marked Aligned and the other Out of Alignment. Underneath each one write out what are the symptoms that let you know you are either in alignment or out of alignment with your higher self. E.g. when you are feeling aligned you are happy, smiling, feel ease in your body, focus on what you like and the good things in others, etc… When you are out of alignment you feel low energy, tired, frustrated, see the negative and procrastinate. When you can get yourself totally clear on what state you are in, you are in a position of power to do something about it. This is the best way to learn how to climb the ladder.

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 26 MINDFULNESS EXERCISE

Today we’re going back to basics. The simplest way to turn up our positive energy is to remember how amazing we are. Each one of us is unique and has something to offer that nobody else can. Set a timer and find ten minutes today to close your eyes and think about all the great things you can do. Take the time to thank yourself for being you. If you are gifted, dwell on your gifts and how you can use them to contribute to a better world. If you are naturally confident, think about how you can use this to your advantage and make a difference. If you feel like you have nothing to offer and the world has turned it’s back on you, turn your back on these thoughts and start asking yourself questions like: “where have I succeeded?” “Who have I been kind to?” “what do other people think are my strengths?” Sometimes the easiest way to get back in tune is to get out of your head and think about how others would see you. Go for it and remember you are made in the image of the divine!

THURSDAY, AUGUST 27 MINDFULNESS EXERCISE

WEEK 3: the five steps

Play Video

“Thoughts become things.” This is true when thoughts are infused with your belief. What you believe determines the level of energy you attach to what you are thinking. Belief attracts. With this in mind and after studying the five steps of co-creation, let’s put this to the test immediately. Step #1 is having a clear desire. Take some time right now and think about something you would like to manifest. The most important part of this exercise is your belief that this is not only possible but that it will happen. Get clear and get honest about what you believe about what you want. Do this by writing down what you want and then ask yourself “do I believe this can happen?” or “do I believe I am worthy of receiving this?” If the answer is yes, then we have something to work with. If the answer is no, scrap this one and try this on something else that feels more natural and believable to you. You set your own limitations by the degree of how limitless you can believe. Take a few minutes, close your eyes and feel into the joy of having what you are looking for. Now sit back and enjoy the process.

MONDAY, AUGUST 31 MINDFULNESS EXERCISE

“According to the word is the flow” – Rebbe Nachman of Breslov. Let’s get back to the desire we left off with yesterday. Today we want to work on step #2 – Just Ask. It really is that simple. Now that you have your clear desire, you believe it can and will happen, and you can taste how could it feels to be there, you have to let go of the thought that you are the creator and just ask. This is your ability to tune into the station you want to listen to. Send out the message and make space to receive what you want. It doesn’t matter at this stage what you believe you are sending this to, just press send and know that it is going to be received. Once again, the level of belief you put into this directly impacts the whole process. For those who find themselves questioning whether or not this will work I suggest the following: let go of questioning whether or not it will work and curiously try it out. No judgments. You lose nothing in trying and nobody is watching. Just give it a shot and see what happens.

TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 1 MINDFULNESS EXERCISE

Today we’re going to work on step #3 – Expect It. Like we explained, on a spiritual level anything we ask for is given and received immediately. There isn’t anything to wait for. This is part of the reason why it helps to write things down and visualize. The writing down, speaking out, and visualizing don’t do the creating – the creation already happened. What these things all do is they tune you in to what you’ve already received and when you are vibrating in alignment with your desire it has a landing space in the physical reality. So for today, we’re practicing the art of don’t think of it – think from it. Meaning, see yourself as already having what you want and act as if it’s already here. Be grateful for the gift you received and let that permeate your being. But don’t forget step #4 – Keep It Private. There’s no need to run around telling people why you are feeling what you’re feeling or doing what you’re doing. It’s between you and yourself.

WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 2 MINDFULNESS EXERCISE

Step #5 – Hold On – is often the hardest to perform because it requires your maintained belief in what you are looking to experience. Life can throw curve balls and it’s important to learn how to weather the storm. Today we’re going to practice the art of asking the right questions. The questions of what, why, and who are important. The questions how, when, and where are counter-productive. When it comes to co-creation only ever ask questions that you can answer, otherwise you’ll be filled with doubt. Set a timer and take five minutes today to ask the questions: What am I opening up to receive and what do I feel when I receive it? Why do I want this? Who has the power to make this happen? Meditate on these ideas and allow yourself to hold on tight to what you truly desire.

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 3 MINDFULNESS EXERCISE

WEEK 4: letting go of fear and doubt

Play Video

Today we’re going to work on identifying what we believe and if we have put up limitations. Choose something that is very relevant to your wellbeing such as a partner, your finances, a career path, or your health. Once you have chosen, close your eyes and imagine whatever you think is the best case scenario for this area in your life. Stop reading right now and try this and then come back to finish. Did you stop and try it? Good. The first thing you’ll notice is how far your mind let’s you go with this one. Now stretch a little bit further and imagine a better case scenario then the one you just imagined. If you can imagine a better version of what I initially asked for that means you’re naturally limiting yourself in this area. Today, see if you can find a few more things where this may be true and extend your imagination and see how far you can take it while still believing it’s possible.

MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 7 MINDFULNESS EXERCISE

I hope you enjoyed yesterday’s exercise. Today we’re going to do something similar. Once again choose an area of your life you would like to see going better. Once you have chosen, close your eyes and imagine the best case scenario for this part of your life. This time while you are imagining ask yourself – “and do I believe this is possible for me?” If the answer is no, choose a more believable version of the same scenario and repeat the question again until the answer is yes. Once you have a yes, ask yourself “how long will it take until this is my reality?” Listen carefully to the answer and trust what your inner self knows. If it says ten years, then that is what you believe. If it says three days then that is what you believe. Now ask yourself – “is it at all possible that it could take less time?” If the answer is yes, what is the quickest you believe this could happen? Again you have shown yourself that there is doubt or fear embedded in your automatic thinking, but given a little opening you could in fact believe something better. What changed both times? Actively focusing on what you want without limitations. This is what we’re after. Don’t let your subconscious doubt stop you from focusing on what you truly want.

TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 8 MINDFULNESS EXERCISE

Today we’re going to do something very simple and may seem backward. What is going wrong in your life? [Relationships, Finances, Health, Career, Spirit]. Find a piece of paper and write the answers down. Now on a separate piece of paper write down what it would look like in all of these places if things were going right instead of wrong. Take the paper of what is going wrong and throw it away. Read the paper of where things are going right and put it in your pocket. Throughout the day take it out and read it. Time to literally throw away our problems and focus on what we want.

WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 9 MINDFULNESS EXERCISE

We’re programmed into believing that if something good happens, something “else” is around the corner. That anything good takes time, and that everything requires hard work. I suggest taking a moment to ponder what it must be like for God – anything can happen, any time, and without consequence. The Torah says we’re made in the mirror image of God. When we are plugged in and aligned good things can happen often, can happen fast, and can come easily. Allow yourself to think about what you are trying to co-create and keep these three things in mind: 1) It can happen faster than you think. 2) It can happen often if you’d like. 3) There does not have to be negative consequences. 4) It can happen effortlessly. Enjoy your high vibrational day!

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 10 MINDFULNESS EXERCISE

WEEK 5: Turning inwards

Play Video

Take a moment, right now, to experience the following. Picture yourself either standing or sitting, whatever is easier to imagine. Now look at that picture of yourself. Stop right now and do this before continuing to read. What you’ll notice is that in this exercise, you are always looking away from yourself. No matter what image you have conjured up in your mind, you are always looking outside of yourself. You are facing outward. Now imagine, for a moment, being able to shift around and face the opposite direction – you would magically be facing inward. This is the major shift we are ultimately looking to make in our co-creative journey. The reason we were given this incredible power to co-create and channel our energy is not just for the reason of getting something outside of ourselves it’s about getting closer to ourselves. Today, decide to channel your energy towards getting closer to who you truly are.

MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 14 MINDFULNESS EXERCISE

One of the easiest ways to tune in to your deepest self is to just sit in the quiet and stillness within. Find yourself in a place where you won’t be disturbed and practice sitting alone in silence. Whether you are well practiced in meditation or not makes no difference for this exercise. Find a space where you can sit in quiet and just watch what is taking place within. Notice the sensations in your body, any emotions that are present, and witness the thoughts in your mind. Without any judgment be present with all that you are. Letting go of the need to be anywhere or anyone is powerful step in the direction of your soul.

TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 15 MINDFULNESS EXERCISE

As we dive deeper into getting to the desire of our desire one of the things you may begin to notice is that when you do feel good, you are a “better” person. Here, where I say better, I mean someone who is less focused on yourself and happier to help others. When you feel good, you’re more forgiving when people do something that would normally irritate you. Feeling good has a higher purpose than just feeling good. It’s the doing good that comes right afterwards that is even more powerful. This only furthers the God connection and the cycle is contagious. Today, see if you can actively take the attention off of yourself and focus on giving, kindness, and other people’s wants. Want more for others than you want for yourself today and you’ll be opening the doors and windows of your divine self.

WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 16 MINDFULNESS EXERCISE

In this last exercise we’ll do together we’re going to act as if we’re already where we want to be.

Today, without hesitation, watch what happens when you let go of all your desires and act as if you’ve already achieved everything you’ve ever wanted to. Notice how you feel when you act as if you’re who you want to be, doing what you want to do, and living the life you want to live.

What kind of person do you become? What types of things do you want to do now that you’ve arrived. We’re so caught up in the perpetual striving, we’re never arriving. Today let yourself taste what happens when you have shown up to who you’ve been trying to become.

transformation

WEEK 1: know the technology

Play Video

Set 5 random alarms throughout your day today a couple of hours apart and when it goes off see if you are focusing on you or others . If you are focused on you — do something in that moment to focus on another – send a warm text, smile at someone, get a drink for someone.

MONDAY SEPTEMBER 21 MINDFULNESS EXERCISE

Get into a quiet state and say the one line Shema prayer (include it) and focus on Hashem Echad — that everything is connected including me. Optional talk to Higher power from this place and set an intention for the day that everything I do is for the purpose of connection and building.

TUESDAY SEPTEMBER 22 MINDFULNESS EXERCISE

Journal — notice one time today when you felt disconnected and what happened prior. Do the same when you felt connected.

WEDNESDAY SEPTEMBER 23 MINDFULNESS EXERCISE

Notice when you make a mistake today how do you speak to yourself… Write it down.

THURSDAY SEPTEMBER 24 MINDFULNESS EXERCISE

Week 2: transformation starts at home

Play Video

Mindfulness exercise: Do you tend to overlook your body or your soul’s needs more? Where is your focus usually? More on the physical or spiritual? Once you have clarity on that. Close your eyes and set an intention for the day to include the other dimension more and review how you felt at the end of the day. What specifically would that involve?

MONDAY SEPTEMBER 28 MINDFULNESS EXERCISE

Reflection question: What are some examples of how you align your talents, skills, abilities and strengths with connection in a typical week and what are some examples of how they disconnect sometimes.

TUESDAY SEPTEMBER 29 MINDFULNESS EXERCISE

Meditation: Close your eyes — Check in with your body today – ask it how it feels? See what answers you get and then ask what it needs. See if you can meet that need.

WEDNESDAY SEPTEMBER 30 MINDFULNESS EXERCISE

Call to Action: What are three things you can practically start doing to increase the connection between your body and soul?

THURSDAY OCTOBER 1 MINDFULNESS EXERCISE

Week 3: transformation with others

Play Video

What is your gift when it comes to connecting? How do you help people feel connected?

Practice this once today.

MONDAY OCTOBER 5 MINDFULNESS EXERCISE

Mindfulness exercise: think of a time you disconnected recently, a time where you felt lonely, negative, small, doubtful. What happened and what did you tell yourself about what happened? Share it with a friend in the group.

TUESDAY OCTOBER 6 MINDFULNESS EXERCISE

Focus on a time when you felt completely connected. Full, happy, alive. What did it feel like in your body? Visualize moving through your day today with that feeling.

WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 7 MINDFULNESS EXERCISE

Pick one thing you want to transform in your life – an attribute internally. We learned this week about sur mei ra (turning away from the bad) ve assei tov (and toward the good). Pick one small baby step that would create some distance or control of the negative implication of that attribute and one small baby step that would bring you closer to it’s counterpart in the world of connection. Eg anger — take a time out of 1 minute when I notice I’m getting frustrated and work on tolerating when things don’t go my way — patience.

THURSDAY OCTOBER 8 MINDFULNESS EXERCISE

Week 4: spiritual transformation

Play Video

Set a timer for 5 minutes and talk to higher power alone. Can do after a meditation also.

MONDAY MINDFULNESS EXERCISE

Write down 5 things that happened today where you got your needs met. Say thank you to a Higher Power for meeting those needs (and the person if it came via a person).

TUESDAY MINDFULNESS EXERCISE

Write down any coincidences that happened today no matter how small.

WEDNESDAY MINDFULNESS EXERCISE

Notice when you are anxious or worried and then try to give it to this Higher Power. Say “I can’t deal with this” — you deal with it and literally hand it over as if it’s not your problem anymore. Notice if there is a difference.

CLARITY

Gain focus, connection and calm.

This daily spiritual focus is based on Rav Avigdor Miller’s 10 steps to Greater Connection

FOUNDATIONS VIDEO

What’s your intention for the Clarity challenge? What would you like to get out of it?

Connection starts at home. If we aren’t connected to ourselves then it’s near impossible to connect to anyone or anything else fully. In order to connect with our full self, we must acknowledge all of our capacity. We are more than a body. That’s why we often refer to it as MY body. Who is the MY that owns the body ? We are a soul too and subconsciously we identify with that part of ourselves. The challenge is, it’s harder to feel or be aware of as it’s a more subtle reality. So we need to learn to quieten ourselves down in order to hear it. In the Tanach it’s literally referred to as “A still small voice קֹ֖ול דְּמָמָ֥ה דַקָּֽה Kol d’mama daka” I Kings 19:12

Please remember to write Day 1-Done after you’ve done the meditation and to comment/share both here and in the Olami Connect FB group so a broader global conversation can be enjoyed.

BODY AND SOUL VIDEO

For those that want to enhance their experience every day here is an optional mindfulness exercise and reflection question to journal in the Olami Connect Journal

What strengthens connection is clarity. Clarity happens when I can see the true purpose of a situation in my life. When I put on my spiritual lens and see beneath the surface, it’s possible to get a glimpse of the bigger picture.

BIGGER PICTURE VIDEO

Responsibility is our ability to respond. It goes beyond just doing one kindness to someone. It deepens connection in a profound way. This is the essence of marriage which is called nisuin. To literally carry another.  Can we truly carry another person? Share the load. Can we free up the obstacles to doing this such as blame and criticism? Today we explore.

RESPONSIBILITY VIDEO

Gratitude is known as the foundational trait of Judaism and is the fuel for connection. Why? Gratitude means we can receive and acknowledge the good that we have received as well as the Source of the one giving.  If we are never open to receiving, then we are never vulnerable or real. We all need things… all the time. It’s the way we connect – through giving and receiving. If we can’t recognize the good, it’s like we can’t recognize the connection. Let’s practice more.

GRATITUDE VIDEO

Today we are talking about decision making. The root of so much disconnection is bad decisions! It affects our relationship with ourselves, others and a Higher Power. We escape reality through bad decisions, selfish decisions often hurt people and distance us from a Higher Power. How can we make good decisions? It’s important to use the 4 checkpoints. Let’s practice. (Sorry it’s a few minutes longer!)

DECISION MAKING VIDEO

Rav Dessler says that at the root of every thought or action is one of two orientations- giving or receiving. Giving moves us into a world of connection. The word for love is Ahava — which comes from ‘hav’ to give. Giving creates love and is literally the way we create connection. Let’s go deeper.

LOVINGKINDNESS VIDEO

We often use the words fate, meant to be or not meant to be, there’s a plan. This alludes to the fact that something or someone else is running the show.

The Torah in fact says there is a Divine Source that we call God who is involved in our personal lives and loves us unconditionally. 💕 It would seem important to explore what we believe and feel about this topic.

Shabbat is a 25 hour meditation.

We can access a higher level of our own soul on Shabbat.

It’s possible to build a deeper connection with yourself, others and with a Divine Source like no other day of the week. If you choose to explore it – it’s an experiential meditation — literally remove your whole body from your weekday. Step back and reflect. Digital detox.

There are certain spiritual guidelines for Shabbat and to the degree we align with those, to that degree we feel Shabbat.  If you’re willing to try (even for a part of the time) stay off your phone, computer, refrain from turning lights on and off for as long as you are able between sunset Friday to sundown Saturday. This is removing ourselves from weekday.

Additionally we plug into Shabbat (it’s not enough to just remove from weekday) by doing spiritual things to connect. So for example, light candles before sunset with the blessing (this signifies you are bringing Shabbat in) and try to say Kiddush which acknowledges the day is different to all other days. Learning Torah/Jewish wisdom and personal prayers are also things people do on Shabbat to plug in to the energy as well as of course eating a delicious meal.  See if you feel different meditating on that day. You can do a meditation even if you are not keeping Shabbat.

Happiness

Find your happiness in 7 steps

FOUNDATIONS VIDEO

What’s your intention for the Happiness challenge? What would you like to get out of it?

The deepest joy in life is knowing that I am doing what I’m meant to be doing.

Let’s explore simcha and life purpose.

LIFE PURPOSE VIDEO

The deepest happiness comes from appreciating what we have. The constant cycle of goodness. Simple yet profoundly life changing. Let’s explore – Gila – Gratitude

GRATITUDE VIDEO

Inner peace ironically comes with the ability to be present with whatever we are doing. Being able to aim our consciousness to a single point focus. In Judaism we call it kavanna – our intention from kivun which means ‘to aim’. It’s a muscle. Let’s practice.

INNER PEACE VIDEO

We all want to feel more love. Love is the source of the deepest joy.

Love is one of the most esoteric, supernatural experiences and has roots in deep kabbalah. When I see others as just like me, it removes the barrier. My center expands, love fills and there is no distinction between me and them. There is Oneness “Echad”

Let’s see more.

LOVE AS ONENESS VIDEO

Ach means brother. Expanding on this Oneness idea from yesterday, the closer we feel ie family the more joy it brings. A constant connection, an eternal bond that is there no matter what. It’s unconditional. This is family. All of the Jewish people are our family.

BROTHERHOOD VIDEO

This is one of the least known ones! We actually get rina( joy) from din which means accurate judgement. Din refers to the limits and rules in our world that put things in their proper place.

Din is the path of justice, precision or exactitude.

JUDGEMENT VIDEO

Today we are talking about Chedva – Thrill seeking. We all know and love this one. The adrenaline junkies want chedva! On a spiritual level how does this apply to us? Life begins at the end of your comfort zone. All growth happens on this edge–let’s see how and why.

personal power

Unlock your true power

FOUNDATIONS VIDEO

What’s your intention for the Happiness challenge? What would you like to get out of it?

According to Judaism, true power comes from self mastery.

Ethics of our Fathers 4:1 says:

“Who is strong? One who overpowers his inclinations” אֵיזֶהוּ גִבּוֹר, הַכּוֹבֵשׁ אֶת יִצְרו

Choosing to live proactively rather than reactively is true self mastery. When we can make a choice about how to respond given all the data and information rather than give a knee jerk reaction from old habits, wounds and patterns. This ability to choose lives in the heart but the guidance comes from the soul. We want to be able to hear our higher voice and give that voice a stronger influence. That is the way we come into our own true power. Let’s learn more deeply.

LIVING FROM SOUL VIDEO

There are two types of fear. The Hebrew word yirah means both “to fear” and “to see.” Yirah – teaches that the essential choice of life is to open our eyes to available opportunities, and to fear the consequences of avoiding that reality.

This type of fear connects us to our power. To make the right CHOICE. On the other hand fear can come from the lower self and be self-focused. I’m scared to mess up, I’m scared I’ll be alone, I’m scared I’ll die. They are often things that are NOT in reality but we are scared they will happen, the  “what if syndrome.”  If we fuel these fears, they disconnect us and paralyze us. It is disempowering. Let’s delve into the difference.

FEAR VIDEO

We can only access our personal power if we know our true worth.  A lot of the time people give away their power because they don’t feel worthwhile. Others seem more important.

We know that everyone is intrinsically valuable  on one hand but on the other society doesn’t act that way… in fact the more good looking, wealthy, smart, powerful and accomplished I am, the more I am worth? So where does this intrinsic unconditional self worth come from? How can we build it in ourselves? Let’s discuss.

SELF WORTH VIDEO

Jealousy is a big block to our power. It is in fact the 10th commandment: Do not covet. Why is it such a block? What happens when we are jealous? We tell a lie to ourselves. We say my life is not enough. If I had THAT life — THEN I would be happy. We literally crawl out of our space in life and want to be in someone else’s. It is a fantasy because we only ever see part of the picture. So we cannot possibly be in our own power because we are not even in our own life! How do we deal with this block to our power?

Let’s jump in!

JEALOUSY VIDEO

Anger is sheer power! It can build or totally destroy.  According to Jewish spirituality, it is one of the few forbidden emotions because it’s so destructive and therefore crucial to work on. Like everything else though, there is negative anger and positive anger. Let’s explore the difference.

ANGER VIDEO

Speech is so powerful – it communicates what is inside. It can build or destroy. We have to be so careful with our speech as it’s a damage that is often not reversible.

At the same time words can touch the heart so deeply, they can move people, create worlds. Words are the expressions of thoughts. What we say to ourselves can also build or destroy us. Let’s dive in:

SPEECH VIDEO

The biggest POWER from a Jewish perspective is being partners with the Divine. This power is available to any Jew no matter whether they are righteous or not. It bypasses the system of reward and punishment. How do we access this spiritual reality? By ‘trusting’. Adopt the PEAT strategy and see how your life changes. Access unlimited power by being best friends with the Boss.
